Overall, Evernote is an outdated option that is filled with lots of unnecessary features, causing mess and bugs, not talking about poor quality customer support.
Considering the need for the most efficient and cost-effective knowledge management systems and note-taking tools, I decided to create a list of the strongest competitors that can become an ultimate choice for organizations today. However, its new iOS version has been reported as slow and useless, while some features are more complicated compared to alternatives that offer simple note taking solutions without those unnecessary features.

Since Evernote is one of the most online notes apps, it has a strong community ready to help. However, its in-house support lacks effectiveness and proper communication. Some users even reported that tech support could ignore messages for more than a day, which is inappropriate for such a market giant.
Freemium
Evernote offers a free plan that covers all basic features users need to take notes for personal use. However, if you need premium features for businesses or more storage, you will be required to upgrade your account, which is very costly.
Storage
Basic, Plus and Premium accounts in Evernote provide different monthly upload limits. With the Basic one, which is free, you can upload a cumulative 3.6GB in total storage after 5 years. Premium account allows for 600GB.
Templates
Evernote offers a vast list of templates that can be used to categorize your notes and customize them to your own purpose. The premium plan allows users to customize their templates, while the Basic subscription allows users to download pre-made templates, but the list is short.
Open Roadmap
Evernote was trying to create a product containing as many features as it could and all in one place. While it could be convenient, this has caused a mess in the community and made it harder to use this tool. As a result, the community reported that Evernote should better offer an open roadmap so they can see where the product is going and have the ability to affect the product's development.
Tettra
Tettra refers to a company wiki tool designed for internal documentation. The app can be used by individuals and companies to take notes online free, manage project documentation, while also easing the onboarding process. Like Evernote, Tettra can be integrated with various apps and services, like Slack, to allow you to document and access vital data without ever leaving Slack. It can also be integrated with Google Drive, GitHub, and Zapier to keep everything organized. Since Tettra is a web-based product, users are able to access it from any device. If you are using a free plan, you will have only 1 GB per user storage limit. However, two other plans offer unlimited storage, making it more cost-efficient and effective than Evernote.

Just like Evernote, Tettra allows users to use templates to create pages with predefined structures.

OneNote

Notion is not just yet another online note-taking app, it’s an ultimate choice for different projects, allowing users to write, plan, capture thoughts, manage projects, or even run an entire company - and all in one space.
Notion is user-friendly, offering recommendations and guidelines on using the app if you are new to it. Even though the support team isn't as responsive as they claim, the vast community is always ready to help users solve their issues. Notion has a Freemium version for individual use only.
